Survey Awareness of Women Rights in Pakistan From March 5 2020 to 7 March 2020 8 March International Women Day

 

Introduction:

International Women Day is going to be celebrated today on 8 March 2020. Thousands of Women are celebrating their day all over the world. In Pakistan many women are celebrating this day. United Nations declared 8th March as International Women Day in 1977.

History of Women Day:

After the Socialist Party of America organized a Women’s Day in New York City on February 28, 1909, German delegates Clara ZetkinKäte Duncker and others proposed at the 1910 International Socialist Woman’s Conference that “a special Women’s Day” be organized annually. After women gained suffrage in Soviet Russia in 1917, March 8 became a national holiday there. The day was then predominantly celebrated by the socialist movement and communist countries until it was adopted by the feminist movement in about 1967. The United Nations began celebrating the day in 1977.

International Women Day in Pakistan:

Government of Pakistan has declared 12 February as Women day of Pakistan. But on the occasion of International women day, many NGO’s and social workers related to feminism celebrated this day for the awareness of women rights in Pakistan. They organize “Aurat March” on this day. This Aurat March is open for everyone and its organizers are not specific one.  The organizers of Aurat March are NGO’S and many social activists.

Controversy Between Khalil Ur Rehman Qamar and Marvi Sarmad:

Recent controversy between Khalil ur Rehman Qamar and Marvi Sarmad create the hype in Media. Khalil ur Rehman Qamar is a well-known highest paid drama writer and Marvi Sarmad is well-known feminist and social blogger who writes for the rights of women rights. The controversy is created in the show of private channel on the Slogan of Aurat March “Mera Jism Meri Marzi” (My Body My Wish). Khalil ur Rehman declared this slogan shameful for the Pakistani society at a mean time Marvi Sarmad interrupt him during his talk and raise the slogan “Mera Jism Meri Marzi”. At that point Khalil ur Rehman said to her don’t interrupt during my talk but she is continuously interrupting. Then Khalil ur Rehman Qamar said to her “Shut-up” and “Ulu ki Phatti”. This Controversy create the hype of Aurat March on Social Media and Electronic Media.

Objectives of Survey:

Following are the objectives of Surveys:

  1. How many Pakistani Women Know About their Rights?
  2. What they think about Marvi Sarmad and Khalil ur Rehman Qamar?
  3. What they think about “Aurat March”?

Methodology:

Online google form was created for the purpose of survey. In the survey form we asked ten different questions from the Women of Pakistan. Only women of Pakistan participated in this survey. They are of different ages and from different cities of Pakistan.

Results:

Online google form submitted by 380 women of Pakistan from 6 March 2020 00:00 to 8 March 2020 00:00. The authenticity of these results are 90 percent because we assure that only individual and only women can submit this form. Following are the results of ten different Questions.

  1. Do you know your Islamic and Constitutional Rights?

Rights is the basic thing which every individual should know what are their rights? On International Women Day, the organizers of “Aurat March” say that they want to aware the Women of Pakistan about their rights. So we asked from the Women of Pakistan whether they know about their rights or not? Almost 75% women said that they know their Islamic and Constitutional Rights. 22% women said that may be they know their Islamic and Constitutional Rights. Only 3% women said that they don’t know their Islamic and Constitutional Rights of Women.

  1. Can you marry on your own will?

The organizers of “Aurat March” say that the Pakistani women cannot marry on their own will. So we asked from the women of Pakistan that whether they can marry on their own will. 54% women said that they can marry on their own will. 26% women say that they may be marry on their own will and 20% women said that they cannot marry on their own will.

  1. As a female is there any hurdle (family restrictions) for you to do your own business in Pakistan?

The organizers of “Aurat March” say that the Pakistani women are not economically Independent. So we asked from the women of Pakistan that as a female is there any hurdle (family restrictions) for you to do your own business in Pakistan? 79% women said that there are no hurdles for them or restrictions for them to do their own business in Pakistan and 21% women said that there are hurdles or restrictions for them to do their own business in Pakistan.

We asked from the women of Pakistan that as a female is there any hurdle (family restrictions) for you to do your own business in Pakistan? 82% women said that there are no hurdles for them or restrictions to do job in Pakistan and 18% women said that there are hurdles or restrictions for them to do job in Pakistan.

5.Can you willingly spend your money without any restrictions?

We asked from the women of Pakistan that whether they can spend their money without any restriction. 89% women said that they can spend their money without any restrictions and 11% women said that they cannot spend their money on their own will

  1. Do you support women march?

The organizers of “Aurat March” say that their march is for the women of Pakistan. So we asked from the women of Pakistan whether they support women march or not? 72% women said that they don’t support women march and 28% women said that they support women march.

  1. Are You Agree with Khalil ur Rehman Qamar?

On a recent controversy between Khalil ur Rehman Qamar and Marvi Sarmad, we asked from the Pakistani women whether they agree with Khalil ur Rehman Qamar or not? 37% women said that they agree with Khalil ur Rehman Qamar. 34% women said that they don’t agree with Khalil ur Rehman Qamar and 29% women said that they don’t know.

On a recent controversy between Khalil ur Rehman Qamar and Marvi Sarmad, we asked from the Pakistani women whether they agree with Marvi Sarmad or not? 70% women said that they don’t agree with Marvi Sarmad. 7% women said that they agree with Marvi Sarmad and 23% women said that they don’t know.

  1. Are you facing any hurdles for opting the Educational Subjects of your choice?

The organizers of Aurat March say that the Pakistani women cannot get education of their own choice. So we asked from the Pakistani women whether they are facing any hurdles for opting the educational subjects of their own choice or not? 88% women said that they are not facing any hurdles for opting the educational subjects of their choice. 12% women said that they are facing hurdles for opting the educational subjects of their choice.

  1. Are you allowed to make friends on your own choice?

The organizers of “Aurat March” say that the Pakistani women are not socially independent or they cannot make friendship of their own choice. So we asked from the Pakistani women whether they are allowed to make their friends of their own choice. 94% Pakistani women said that they can make their friends of their own choice and only 6% women said that they cannot make their friends of their own choice.

Conclusion:

The results of survey are clearly against the “Aurat March” and the organizers of “Aurat March”. Then why few Pakistani women have reservations about their rights or the rights of Women in Pakistan. We should not create the hype of this problem and simply try to resolve the problem. We should talk with those few women who have reservations about their rights in the society and fulfill their demands. But in the same manner the women who is trying to demolishing the culture of Pakistan, we should punish that Pakistani women according to the Law of Pakistan.
