Recent Trends in Pakistani Dramas

From a regular television viewer to the one who hardly knows the channel number of one or two famous television channels, we all grew up. Before blaming social networking websites and other modern gadgets for the above-mentioned facts, kindly realize few realities. We still have books which have become best sellers & famous around the globe. We have many popular dramas in this decade too. But still day by day we are lacking our interest in this activity. Let’s have a look what’s going wrong with our drama industry.  I have noticed that the one main issue without which a drama serial is now considered incomplete is Divorce (and Halala too).  Like really we have no other social evil to depict? There is too much saturation of ideas in our screenplays. The reasons for divorces (which are presented) are usually extramarital affair or the conspiracy of surrounding people having blood relations with the husband or wife. From the richest people to the poorest, all have this same problem in their lives. That is totally unbelievable. I can easily count you more than 10+ dramas in a single previous year which were obsessed with this ENTERTAINING issue. Another hot topic is that which a rich bad boy (only child of his parents) falls in love with the poor (of course the most beautiful in the town) & qualified girl. The boy wants this girl at any cost. There’s no other goal in his mind. And the whole drama revolves around this stupid concept. We are constantly showing such extremism on our television screens. It seems that we are out of ideas. Or the drama industry is hijacked by the writers/directors who love these two or three topics. There is no focus on balancing the proportion of divergent projects including topics like love stories, comedy, horror, travel stories & teenagers’ problems etc. Some heroic stories should be on-air but not only on the birthdays or death anniversaries of those heroes. Can’t we make dramas which would narrate the common matters of normal middle-class families? Just like their living style, chit-chat between siblings, harmless fights between home members & small celebrations etc. Are we too dumb to picture it? There could be several other areas e.g. college or university life of students; their issues, enjoyments & fears (without Love affairs), a healthy atmosphere in a business firm with good peer relations, struggling story of any boy or girl who want to achieve something big in their lives or a guy who want to excel a skill. This practice will make us realize that small achievements in life are achievements too. Dramas should be the source of ENTERTAINMENT and should not be the source of boosting depression, evil thoughts, negativity or extremism in society. We should raise our voice to the responsible authorities so that they would stop making and spreading this nonsense stuff. Instead, they should radiate some positivism neither Illusions nor the cruel side of our society).  In the race of getting higher of TRPs, we are ruining our society. We don’t want to watch only the evil side of our society or of new technology. There are too many constructive values in our community too. Lastly, we don’t want to learn the new ways of deceit and fraud or how to misuse the Facebook, YouTube and other social apps etc.
