Promote The Use Of National Drink Of Pakistan Sugarcane Juice

Every country has some national honors like the national dress, the national anthem, national animal, the national bird, etc. These national honors are considered the pride of the nation. Each person of the nation respects the dignity of the national objects. Similar to other countries, our beloved Pakistan also has several particular national honors. This list also includes the national drink of Pakistan. The Government of Pakistan declared sugarcane juice as the “national drink” of the country on January 25, 2019. According to the report of The Nation daily, the announcement came after the government conducted a poll on social networking site Twitter where people were asked to decide on Pakistan’s national drink among sugarcane, carrot, and orange. According to the poll, 81% voted for sugarcane juice, 15% chose orange juice while 4% cast the vote favoring carrot.

The national drink of Pakistan, Sugar cane juice is most commonly referred to as “Roh” or “gunney ka rus”. Sugarcane juice is the extract of pressed sugarcane. Mostly, it is sold by roadside vendors in the form of fresh juice, because due to oxidation, the juice turns black rapidly. In Pakistan, people use this as a drink, as well as in cooking Special Sugarcane rice dish which is full of sweetness and taste. Sugarcane (Saccharum officinarum L.) is an important cash crop of agricultural country, Pakistan. Pakistan occupies 5th position in cane producing countries of the world. It is the main source of providing sugar and other sugary productions. It contains water and Saccharose sugar that accounts for its sweet taste. Pakistan ranks almost 15th position in the production of sugar. It also includes essential amino acids and carbohydrates which provide important nutrients to the body. This crop is also a greater source of vitamins, including Vitamin C, B1, B2, B6,  plus iron, phosphorous, calcium, as well as citric organic, fumaric, succinic, malic acids.

Sugarcane is grown on about 1.2 million hectares area and supplies the raw material for ninety sugar mills. The sugar industry is the 2nd major agriculture-based industry of Pakistan after textiles. Among the provinces, Punjab Province accounts for 65%, Sindh 25%, and KPK 10% of sugarcane area. It can be planted three times in a year, in the months of February-March, July, and October. Its average yield is 46 tons per hectare.

It is a useful remedy for jaundice. People suffering from jaundice should daily drink two glasses of this marvelous drink with lemon and salt added in it. This energy boosting drink also keeps the person active whole of the day.

Also, it is effective in decreasing triglycerides and cholesterol in the body.

It can fight against tooth decay as it contains lots of minerals as well as eliminates the bad breath. So, one piece of sugar cane can be used as a delicious dessert after every meal.

Taking this juice in hot summer days hydrates the body and reduces thirst.

Sugar cane juice is an alkaline drink which is loaded with potassium, calcium, magnesium, and iron. It is used as a cancer-preventing drink as cancer cannot develop in an alkaline environment.

It helps in averting and reducing kidney stones as the juice is an excellent body moisturizer. It is medically proven that the main cause of kidney stone formation is dehydration. So consumption of this juice for a longer period can prevent, and even removes if the person already has kidney stones.

Sugarcane contains Alpha hydroxy acid (AHA) which is good for the skin. Its face mask effectively works as an anti-aging solution and prevents acne. Regular use of this mask makes skin smooth and glowing. It also cures hurting cracks on the lips. There is a recipe to cure dermatitis. Bake the purple sugar cane bark to get the ash. Then mix the crushed ash with sesame seed oil and apply to your skin. Applying sugarcane juice to upper and lower eyelids remediates the swollen eyes, eye irritation, and red eye. It also works as an anti-wrinkle solution. For this mix, two teaspoons of juice with turmeric powder, wait for ten minutes after applying to the skin and wash with fresh water.

It facilitates the digestion as it contains high potassium levels. It averts constipation and stomach infections and keeps the digestive system healthy.

  1. Reduce Vomiting, Swelling During Pregnancy

Sugar cane juice can help pregnant women suffering from toxicosis to feel much better. Pregnant women suffering from toxicosis can drink fresh sugar cane juice mixed with ginger one time daily. Also, the women who experience swelling in the last trimester of pregnancy will feel better if they drink several glasses of juice daily.
