MADAR E JAHMORIYAT A BRAVE LADY BEGUM KULSOOM NAWAZ
The three-time first lady Kulsoom Nawaz passed away today in London after her long battle with cancer. Begum Kulsoom was under treatment for throat cancer for several months at Harley Street clinic, London. Just days ago her condition worsened to the extent that she had to be shifted on a ventilator. Although last year, when Begum Kulsoom’s lymphoma type three was diagnosed, doctors were rather optimistic regarding her survival.
Begum Kulsoom Nawaz, the first lady of Pakistan for three times 1990-1993,1997-1999 and 2013-2017 and also the President of Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (P.M.L.N) from 1999-2002.
She was born in Lahore in a Kashmiri family on 29th of March, 1950. Her father was Hafiz Butt. She gained her early education from Islamia College Lahore. She was graduated from Forman Christian College in Lahore. In 1970, she got her master degree in Urdu from Punjab University. Also done her PhD in Urdu Poetry.
She had 2 sisters and a brother. From her maternal side, she is the granddaughter of The Great Gama. She was married to Muhammad Nawaz Sharif in April 1971. The couple has 4 children, Maryam, Asma, Hussain and Hassan.
She was the President of Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (P.M.L.N) from 1999-2002.
She was the first lady of Pakistan for three times. In 1999, the table turned and there happiness was faded when the Pakistan Army Corps of Military police arrested her and immediately shifted her to Her local residence.
Kulsoom in 2000 led a public rally from Lahore to Peshawar for the supporters of PMLN to make them zealous and enthusiastic about the Party’s efforts. She was so loyal to her husband and the works of her husband. She gave him advice regarding His politics. Soon after the rally of 2000, after leaving her residence she was surrounded by the Police and was detained.
She became the first lady of Pakistan in 2013 when Nawaz Sharif was elected Prime Minister and remained till 2017.
She was elected by National Assembly for the very first time in 2017 by-polls for NA-120 (Lahore- III)
She got 59,413 votes and defeated Yasmeen Rashid. But unfortunately could not participate in oath taking ceremony due to bad health and illness. Her husband was disqualified in Panama Case.
LAST DAYS/ ILLNESS
She was diagnosed with lymphoma in August and went to London for treatment. Where she repeatedly go through Chemotherapy and Radiotherapy.
She was getting better by her treatment, but to her luck in June 2018 got cardiac arrest and taken in the ventilator.
On 10 September 2018, she readmitted to the hospital.
Everything was smooth, except the condition of her Husband and Daughter in Adiala Jail.
All of sudden She got a heart attack and died on 11 September 2018. At the time of death, her age was 68 years.
Her husband and daughter (Nawaz Sharif and Maryam Nawaz) get parole to attend the funeral.
All the countrymen and supporters are grieved at her death.
We have a great lose, loss of an iron lady, a sincere wife, a responsible mother and a politician.
