BREAK THE MYTH OF SEXUAL EDUCATION A SOCIAL TABOO

The human being is one of the best creatures of GOD. As God says in Holy Quran “we have certainly created man in the best of stature”(Al-Quran: Surat-At-Tin). Humans are being bestowed by GOD with several physiological and emotional characteristics. These characteristics are the real tools for a smooth life. Sexual desires or sexuality is one of them. Sexuality does not concern only with the matter of reproduction; it has also a way-out for the emotional balance of two genders. But, unfortunately, monotonic perspective (reproduction) of sexuality is quickly eroding the real beauty (emotional balance) of this characteristic. God has granted the legal way out to fulfil this desire in the form of marriage. The beautiful family unit formation due to this factor helps to form a society.

The growing culture of sexual assault to different genders has become a headache for the moral survival of societies all over the world. Different statics of developed and developing countries present the grim situation of morality in the world. After every 98 seconds, an American is sexually assaulted. On average there are 321,500 victims (age 12or older) of rape and sexual assault each year in the United States. The situation in the third world countries is quite alarming due to the absence of proper reporting culture and due to socio-cultural factors.11 cases of child sex abuse are being reported in Pakistan every day. According to the report of a nongovernmental organization (Sahil), 3445 children sexually abused in 2017. The malice of cruelty has affected all .children and even the toddlers are the victims of this heinous act. In India, a child is sexually abused every 15 minutes, according to the latest government figures. Younger people are at high risk of sexual violence, women and girls experience sexual violence at a high rate.1 out of every 6 American women has been the victim of an attempted or completed rape in her lifetime. Men and boys are also affected by sexual violence, college students are most Vulnerable.

The spectrum of sexual violence is not limited to the two genders only, the third gender(transgender) are also at high risk for sexual violence.

The menace of sexual violence has affected all genders and has become a worldwide issue. There are several reasons and factors who have contributed to bringing the things to this extent. First of all socio-cultural factors are playing the major role in it. The projection of open society culture in west paves the path towards it whereas in the case of third world countries, talking about sex is considered as a taboo. The extremes of socio-cultural patterns lead towards global sexual assault culture. The absence of sex- education especially in developing countries is another reason. The absence of sex education and sexual orientation to children, girls and even women with marital status. Media is also imparting negative image by presenting the unethical content for users. The involvement of commercialism in every walk of life has also contributed towards sexual violence by providing porn games on the internet. The impacts of sexual violence are horrified .following are few impacts —

Suicidal and depressive thoughts.

Sexually abused children have behavioural issues.

Increase the use of drugs.

Behavioural problems that affect the relationship with their family, friends and co-workers.

Risk of pregnancy and sexually transmitted infections.

Keeping all the facts in mind there is dire need to find the way out for the monster of sexual violence that is engulfing the morality of society quickly. The first thing is to correct the narrative of the sexual orientation of societies in the world. The western world needs moderation towards the openness of culture whereas on the eastern side the taboo attached to sex education has to be abolished. Without providing handsome knowledge about sexual orientation to different age groups in the society we cannot save our present and future as well. In Islamic countries, the real preaching of Islam can help to build a healthy society.  Separation of bed for siblings at the age of 10 is the evidence for the sex-education to children. Al-Mannaawi said in Fath al-Qadeer Sharh al-Jaami‘ as-Sagheer: That is, separate your children in the beds in which they sleep when they reach the age of ten, as a precaution against provocation of desire, even in the case of sisters. In the Holy Quran, there is the complete code of conduct for proper sexual behaviour for the human being. Sex education is basically a learning of a broad variety of topics related to sex and sexuality. Schools, community settings and online platform can be used to develop the true sense of sexual orientation to different age groups and gender level. Comprehensive sexuality education that includes human development, personal skills, sexual behaviour, sexual health and society culture should be provided to people through government efforts. Media should play a positive role to spread awareness among peoples. The government should form astringent laws to address sexual violence. The corporate sector should also play a responsible role to avoid porn games promotion on the internet. Parents can play a key role by establishing a good bond with their children and by teaching them about sexual orientation at different stages of life. The horrified impacts of sexual violence can only be avoided by concerted efforts otherwise it will lead the world to the verge of moral decline.
