23 March 1940: Pakistan Day

The day of 23rd March for Pakistan is a significant day in the history of South Asia. The day remembered as Pakistan Day because on 23rd March 1940, Muslims of Subcontinent passed the resolution of separate country for the Muslims of Sub Continent at Minar- e- Pakistan Lahore.  The national memorializes this day with great passion and enthusiasm, to honor the most exceptional accomplishment of the Muslims of South Asia who passed historic Pakistan Resolution resulting in the creation of Pakistan Under the energetic direction of Quaid-e- Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah. A homeland where they could live in peace, harmony, Unity and according to the rules of Islam. Pakistan was born when the first Hindu was entered in the circle of Islam. It is the time when the Muslim government wasn’t established in the Hindustan. Base of the Muslims nation is Kalma e Toheed, not a country or tribe. When the person of Hindu nation left Hinduism and accept the Islam then he is not in the first nation, he is definitely the person of 2nd nation. There are different names of this resolution, Pakistan resolution is commonly known name. It was the political achievement of Muslim League to make Muslims united under one flag of Muslim League and also they made one point political agenda to get Pakistan. This was the time when the general session of Muslim League held from 22 March to 24 March. The resolution was presented by Fazal-e-Haq. While the name “Pakistan” was proposed by Ch. Rehmat Ali at the event in 1933 of Pakistan Declaration. Muhammad Ali Jinnah and other leaders had no more belief in Hindu Muslim Unity. This idea has strong backing because of political conflict between Muslims and Hindu and also religious conflict between Hindu and Muslims. Resolution of Pakistan 23rd March 1940 remember us that what was the reason we got a separate country. The passing of the resolution made Muslims united under one flag. At that Muslims thought that this is the best way to solve their problems.  This resolution gave new passion to Muslims. Unanimously approval of this resolution gave new hope to Muslims. The Muslim of Subcontinent had finally got their uniting call .The years of oppression from British and Hindu’s were to be put behind them and it was ML which was undisputed leader of Pakistan movement. It joined all the Muslims together to demand for a separate homeland. The Resolution state that: “No constitutional plan would be workable in this country or acceptable to the Muslims unless it is designed on the following basic principles, namely, that the geographically contagious units demarcated into regions, which should be so constituted with such territorial readjustments as may be necessary that the areas in which that Muslims are in a majority as in the Northwestern and Eastern zones of India should be grouped to constitute independent states in which the constituents units shall be autonomous and sovereign. Adequate, effective and mandatory safeguards should be specifically provided in their religious, cultural, economic political, administrative and other rights” Muslims demand that Muslims and Hindus are two separate nations from every definition; therefore they should have a separate homeland in the Muslim majority areas of India, where they can spend life according to the teachings of Islam. Ideology of Pakistan is actually implementation of Islamic teachings. To maintain and arouse the national dignity and struggles for unity among Muslim Ummah and Islamic rule is in fact ideology of Pakistan. Two nation theory on the basis of Islamic philosophy in political and cultural background of subcontinent is called ideology of Pakistan. Ideology of Pakistan is actually Islamic ideology. The idea of Muslims, attaining Pakistan was in fact ideology of Pakistan. In creating the idea of separate homeland, various factors were involved; like Religious difference, culture, social, economic, educational, political difference, Urdu Hindi controversy, the partition of Bengal, anti-Muslim campaign, in acceptance of British rule, Hindus betrayed Muslims, refusal of Muslim identity and war of 1857. The creation of Pakistan was unique in the sense that it was based on the ideological commitments in the light of the religion Islam. Ideology of Pakistan basically means that Pakistan should be a state where the Muslims Should have an opportunity to live according to the faith and based on the Islamic principles. The British had been forced to recognize the Muslim League as the only representative of the Muslims of India in 1940 and Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah as its undoubted leadership. The Resolution passed in Lahore on 23 March, mad fear in the minds of Hindu that it will make the Muslims powerful. They could see that the Muslim League had now openly advocated the division of India into “two Independent states”.
